Principal Engineer - Hardware Sustaining (Networking Hardware)

Location: Onsite in Singapore, Central Singapore; primarily based in an HPE office.

What you will do

• Lead failure analysis of complex networking hardware involving CPUs, networking ASICs, power systems, clocking, high-speed signals, and optics.
• Drive containment, workarounds, final-fix validation, corrective and preventive actions, and identification of other systems affected by the issue.
• Provide technical leadership in hardware quality and reliability while guiding and mentoring junior engineers.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, ODM, component, and supply chain teams to accelerate problem resolution.
• Document findings, lessons learned, regular failure-analysis updates, and final RCCA reports for internal stakeholders and customer support teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering.
• 12+ years of experience, or 10+ years with a Master’s degree.
• Expertise in hardware design processes and tools, including schematic capture, layout, bill of materials, and product lifecycle management tools.
• Expertise debugging networking hardware.
• Experience with 20+ layer boards featuring 50G+ high-speed signals, including knowledge of signal integrity and power integrity concepts and tools.
• Expertise designing and debugging high-speed PCIe, SerDes, and DDR interfaces, as well as low-speed I2C and SPI interfaces.
• Experience with FPGA and CPLD design and debugging, including Verilog RTL.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in English and the local language.
• Excellent leadership skills and demonstrated experience as a technical leader or subject matter expert.
• Proficiency in scripting for hardware design, testing, and debugging.
