Principal Engineer - Hardware Sustaining (Networking)

Location: Onsite, with primary work expected from an HPE office.

What you will do

• Lead deep-dive failure analysis of complex networking hardware involving CPUs, ASICs, power, clocking, high-speed signals, and optics.
• Drive containment, workaround, final-fix validation, and preventive actions across affected systems.
• Provide technical leadership in hardware quality and reliability while mentoring junior engineers.
• Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, ODM, component, and supply-chain teams to resolve issues.
• Document findings, lessons learned, and RCCA reports for internal stakeholders and customer-support teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering.
• 12+ years of experience, or 10+ years with a master’s degree.
• Expertise in hardware design processes and tools, including schematic capture, layout, BOM, and PLM systems.
• Experience debugging networking hardware and 20+ layer boards with 50G+ high-speed signals.
• Experience with signal integrity, power integrity, PCIe, SerDes, DDR, I2C, SPI, FPGA, CPLD, and Verilog RTL.
• Effective written and verbal communication in English and the local language is required. Demonstrated technical leadership and hardware scripting experience are also required.
