Department Leader (NIGHTS)

Location: Onsite in Opelika, Alabama, United States; night shift and weekend work may be required. Immigration sponsorship or support, including STEM OPT Form I-983 training plan completion, is not available.

Salary: $80,000–$133,000 per year, plus potential annual performance bonus and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead and supervise maintenance processes and daily operations across facilities, plant equipment, and manufacturing systems.
• Schedule preventive and predictive maintenance, major equipment overhauls, and facility improvements to reduce failures and downtime.
• Manage computerized maintenance systems, ensuring accurate equipment data and maintenance histories.
• Supervise, train, and develop up to 15 department employees.
• Support safety programs, maintain safety work-order records, and oversee engineering controls and equipment upgrades.
• Help develop and manage the departmental budget.

Requirements

• Five to eight years of experience in food or consumer packaged goods maintenance or a related technical discipline.
• At least five years of supervision experience in a technical discipline.
• Background knowledge of facilities maintenance.
• One to two years of college or at least eight years of maintenance or technical experience.
• Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance programs, computerized maintenance systems, and strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
• Ability to work onsite in Opelika, Alabama, manage a 24-hour, seven-day operation, and work weekends as required.
