Software Engineer II (AI)

Location: Barcelona, Spain; remote-first with a strong presence in Barcelona and access to office-based, remote, or hybrid workplaces.

What you will do

• Build, maintain, and scale backend services and support tools for a distributed observability platform.
• Develop services that ingest large volumes of data, analyze spans and traces, and publish results downstream.
• Integrate and evaluate AI agents and AI-powered workflows for code generation, testing, architecture planning, code reviews, and production troubleshooting.
• Create automation and deployment tooling to improve scalability and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to influence the roadmap for Service Architecture Intelligence products.
• Participate in DevOps practices, shared code ownership, and on-call rotations.

Requirements

• Experience with distributed systems, concurrency, and scaling production environments.
• Strong experience with object-oriented programming; Java is required.
• Knowledge of asynchronous programming, including streams, event-based flows, task queues, and message queues.
• Hands-on experience using and integrating modern AI coding assistants and AI agents.
• Experience working with Agile methodologies and delivering high-quality production code.
• Proficiency in English and a collaborative approach to software development.

Nice to have

• Experience evaluating, benchmarking, or developing agentic AI tools, prompt workflows, or developer automation scripts.
• Open-source contributions.
• Experience with build and test automation or observability tools.
• Technical mentorship experience.
