Staff Software Engineer (AI Engineering)

Location: Remote, but candidates must reside in the Atlanta area and be flexible for future hybrid work

What you will do

• Lead the architecture and delivery of agentic-first subsystems for Nexus Repository Manager.
• Orchestrate long-running, multi-agent workflows across planning, implementation, testing, and review.
• Own major product initiatives from ambiguous requirements through rollout and long-term operability.
• Define evaluation frameworks, test harnesses, guardrails, observability, and review practices for agent-generated code.
• Set technical direction, shape engineering practices, and mentor Senior engineers.
• Partner with Product, Security Research, UX, and Support to deliver secure, reliable capabilities.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software development experience and a record of leading multi-quarter, multi-team initiatives.
• Production experience designing and scaling multi-agent systems, including agent orchestration, MCP tooling, shared context, memory, handoffs, and evaluation harnesses.
• Strong experience with Java, cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and large-scale distributed systems.
• Expertise in performance tuning, data-intensive services, production operability, security, and reliability.
• Working knowledge of software supply chain security, including SBOM formats, SCA, SLSA, Sigstore/cosign, vulnerability analysis, and package ecosystem attack patterns.
• Residence in the Atlanta area and flexibility for future hybrid work are required.
