Senior Software Engineer, Backend - LATAM (AI)

Location: Remote; candidates must be based in Latin America

Base pay: $75,000–$120,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Design and implement greenfield backend services.
• Replace legacy code with modern microservices.
• Build strong test coverage and production-grade observability.
• Work with Product Managers and hirify.globalering teams to turn requirements into technical solutions.
• Use Claude, Cursor, or similar AI tools as the primary development environment.
• Own projects independently, identify blockers, and maintain delivery momentum.

Requirements

• Strong system design skills and the ability to explain architectural tradeoffs.
• Experience delivering complex systems rather than isolated features.
• Fluency with AI-assisted development using tools such as Claude or Cursor.
• Self-directed working style and comfort with ambiguity and changing priorities.
• Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Must be based in Latin America; this is a full-time contractor role.

Nice to have

• Experience with Java or Kotlin.
• SQL and relational databases.
• Terraform, Datadog, or Splunk.
