Associate Director, People Technology/HRIS (Workday)

Location: San Diego, California, United States

Salary: $161,100–$220,000 annual base salary, plus a target annual bonus of 30% and eligibility for an equity-based long-term incentive program.

What you will do

• Lead the People Technology strategy and multi-year roadmap, using Workday HCM as the core system of record.
• Own the Workday operating model, including governance, solution design, configuration standards, prioritization, releases, change management, service levels, and value realization.
• Direct implementations, optimizations, integrations, and major platform changes from discovery through deployment, adoption, stabilization, and benefits realization.
• Maintain secure, compliant, and scalable architecture, data, reporting, analytics, integrations, and operational controls.
• Govern AI-enabled tools, Workday Extend, analytics, and automation with appropriate security, privacy, human oversight, and measurable outcomes.
• Build and develop the People Technology team and manage strategic partners, vendors, and systems integrators.

Requirements

• BS/BA degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Computer Science, or a related field with 10+ years of progressive HR technology or HRIS experience; alternatively, an MS/MA degree with 8+ years of experience.
• 5+ years of Workday HCM experience, 3+ years of team leadership, and ownership of at least one end-to-end implementation or major transformation with sustained post-production optimization.
• Required experience with Workday configuration, security, reporting and analytics, integrations, and release management.
• Required people-management and functional or platform leadership experience.
• Hands-on expertise in at least three Workday functional areas, such as Recruiting, Talent, Learning, Compensation, Benefits, Absence, Time Tracking, Organization Management, Workforce Planning, or Payroll.

Nice to have

• Current Workday Pro certifications in relevant HCM, Security, Reporting and Analytics, Platform Administrator, Orchestrate Developer, or Extend Developer I areas.
• Experience with ADP or other third-party payroll integrations.
• Experience leading systems integrators or application management services partners.
