Head of People Technology (AI)

Location: Mountain View, CA or San Francisco, CA; hybrid work with at least 3 days per week in the office, and up to 5 days depending on operational needs.

Salary: $216,000–$280,000 base salary per year, plus eligibility for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.

What you will do

• Set the long-term technical vision, architecture, and strategy for People platforms including HRIS, ATS, Total Rewards, and Performance systems.
• Act as the hands-on principal architect for employee data management, system crosswalks, integrations, and data flows across People, Finance, and Commercial Operations systems.
• Identify manual HR workflows for AI-powered automation and build internal agents for employee self-service, reporting, and routine data auditing.
• Establish change management, data governance, and control frameworks supporting auditability, GDPR/CCPA compliance, and public-company readiness.
• Partner with executive leadership across People, Finance, and Security IT, translating platform risks and roadmaps into business outcomes.
• Build and mentor a platform team focused on domain depth, AI fluency, speed, and proactive system ownership.

Requirements

• 14+ years of experience leading People or HR business technology, including 6+ years in leadership and management roles in high-growth technology environments.
• Hands-on configuration mastery of Workday, Greenhouse, and Ashby, including backend logic, system limitations, and downstream integrations.
• Proven experience designing and deploying advanced automation workflows that significantly improve business efficiency.
• Exceptional ability to design scalable data architectures, manage integrations, and map complex technical ecosystems.
• Experience operating in a public-company environment, with knowledge of compliance, security controls, and audit expectations.
• Demonstrated success influencing C-level executives and managing strategic, complex technology vendor relationships.

Nice to have

• Experience designing, building, or deploying Agentic AI automation.
• Experience with master data management in the HR domain.
