TL;DR

Radiological Engineer 3 (Nuclear): Performing source-term, dose, atmospheric-dispersion, particle-transport, reactor, and shielding analyses for pressurized light-water reactor primary systems with an accent on engineering calculations, simulation tools, and nuclear safety. Focus on solving complex radiological engineering problems, developing innovative analysis methods, and mentoring junior engineers.

Location: Remote within the contiguous United States; residence must be more than 30 miles from a physical NuScale office. The role may require national and local travel and eligibility to obtain US export-controlled software under DOE 10 CFR Part 810.

Salary: $108,908–$131,441 annually; full pay range $97,642–$152,722 annually.

What you will do

  • Perform independent engineering calculations and radiological analyses using NRCDose, SCALE, RADTRAD, MCNP, ADVANTG, and related simulation tools.
  • Conduct source-term, normal and accident dose, atmospheric-dispersion, particle-transport, reactor, and shielding analyses.
  • Plan and execute complex engineering assignments for nuclear engineering projects and develop alternative technical solutions.
  • Resolve complex technical issues using professional engineering judgment and innovative approaches.
  • Coordinate with engineering peers and management and represent radiological engineering as a technical resource.
  • Mentor and train junior engineers while supporting safety and quality assurance objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering or radiological health physics from an ABET- or ANSAC-accredited institution.
  • At least 5 years of full-time experience in nuclear or radiological engineering or health physics.
  • At least 2 years of PWR or BWR design-analysis experience using radiological engineering software.
  • Must be eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810 export-control requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively through remote communication tools and travel nationally and locally as needed.
  • Ability to understand and implement 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and ASME NQA-1 quality assurance requirements.
