Machinist Trainee (Manufacturing)

Location: Onsite in Eugene, Oregon, United States. Permanent position based in an office and manufacturing shop environment.

What you will do

• Support entry-level machining, fabrication, assembly, and shop preparation activities.
• Learn to read blueprints, sketches, drawings, and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, and setup requirements.
• Assist with machine setup and operation on mills, lathes, grinders, shapers, and related equipment.
• Use hand, battery-powered, and pneumatic tools for drilling, grinding, deburring, washing, painting, and part preparation.
• Fabricate fittings using welding equipment and help departments as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while meeting quality and performance standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 0–1 year of experience assisting in a shop and a strong desire to learn machining and manufacturing skills.
• Basic construction knowledge and adequate mathematical ability to calculate material needs.
• Ability to obtain forklift certification and operate material-handling equipment such as hand trucks, pallet jacks, or jib cranes.
• Good communication, organization, teamwork, and professional interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work onsite in a warehouse and manufacturing shop, stand for long periods, occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds, and work around machinery, fumes, forklifts, electricity, and moderate-to-high noise.
