Senior Mechanical Engineer

Location: New York or San Francisco, United States; onsite work in frog studios

Salary: $112,600–$170,000 base compensation

What you will do

• Engineer consumer electronics and similar products from early concepts through production.
• Plan, prioritize, and independently deliver mechanical engineering activities within interdisciplinary projects.
• Create 3D CAD models, engineering analyses, drawings, BOMs, assembly instructions, and other vendor-ready documentation.
• Apply DFM and DFA principles across injection molding, sheet metal stamping, machining, casting, and other manufacturing processes.
• Lead mechanical design discussions with clients, communicate trade-offs, and provide technical recommendations.
• Mentor junior engineers, collaborate with clients and suppliers, lead small project teams, and support proposals and pitches.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline.
• 5+ years of mechanical design and documentation experience, primarily with consumer electronics or similar products.
• Advanced solid and surface modeling skills using 3D software; SolidWorks is preferred.
• Experience serving as a mechanical design lead in multifunctional teams.
• Knowledge of DFM, DFA, manufacturing constraints, prototyping techniques, and product development processes.
• Hands-on electronics and firmware prototyping experience using off-the-shelf components and development kits.

• Exposure to product qualification, regulatory compliance, quality management, reliability, and engineering analysis.
• Knowledge of electronic enclosure design, thermal management, electromechanical integration, supplier collaboration, and commercialization.
