AI Tutor (Hausa)

Location: Remote worldwide, subject to legal eligibility, time-zone compatibility, and role-specific needs. US-based candidates cannot be hired in Wyoming or Illinois. Visa sponsorship is not provided.

Salary: US-based candidates earn $35–$45 per hour. International compensation details are provided during recruitment.

What you will do

• Label, annotate, record, and review multilingual audio clips, voice recordings, speech samples, and other auditory data.
• Translate and localize UI copy, prompts, responses, and other content from English into Hausa.
• Curate audio datasets that accurately represent pronunciation, intonation, rhythm, accents, and natural spoken output.
• Evaluate speech accuracy, cultural vocal expressions, contextual meaning, and audio quality across diverse accents and dialects.
• Collaborate with technical staff to improve speech modulation, noise handling, multilingual processing, annotation tools, and audio workflows.

Requirements

• Native Hausa proficiency with exposure to diverse accents, dialects, and regional variations.
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher, including clear pronunciation suitable for audio recording.
• Strong auditory perception and the ability to identify speech, pronunciation, intonation, accent, and audio-quality nuances.
• High-accuracy transcription skills across varying accents and recording quality.
• Ability to translate and localize content between English and Hausa while preserving meaning, tone, and cultural nuance.
• Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills, with independent judgment in ambiguous audio scenarios.

Nice to have

• Background in linguistics, phonetics, phonology, sociolinguistics, speech sciences, cognitive science, or a related field.
• Experience with speech or audio datasets, annotation workflows, AI training data, or voice model training.
• Experience with software localization, conversational AI text, voice acting, voice recording, podcasting, or audio production.
• Portfolio of voice samples, annotated transcripts, or other audio-related work.
