Senior Nuclear Engineer (Reactor Physics)

Location: 100% onsite at the El Segundo, California headquarters, United States. Extended hours and weekends may be required when necessary.

Salary: $133,500–$184,800 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Own core neutronics modeling methods and reactor physics calculations supporting transient safety analyses.
• Calculate energy deposition distributions, reactivity coefficients, kinetics parameters, and control blade worths for Digital Twin models.
• Verify neutronics assumptions and assess the conservatism of modeling methods.
• Document analytical methods and results for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Assist with Digital Twin Verification & Validation efforts.
• Review and support analyses involving reactor physics, shielding, and radiation detection.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
• 4+ years of experience with Monte Carlo nuclear engineering software such as OpenMC, MCNP, Serpent, or SCALE.
• Experience documenting analysis methods and assumptions.
• Strong programming skills in any language, preferably Python.
• Ability to work 100% onsite in El Segundo, California.
• Ability to comply with applicable U.S. export controls is required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge and experience in reactor kinetics.
• Basic knowledge of thermal-hydraulic principles.
• Experience communicating and distilling information with cross-functional teams.
• Self-motivated ownership of work from start to finish.
