Sr. Estimator - Electrical (Renewable Energy)

Location: Avon, Minnesota, United States; some travel is required.

Salary: $100,561–$145,814 per year.

What you will do

• Develop estimates and conceptual electrical solutions for utility-scale renewable energy proposals.
• Review owner requests for proposals, specifications, drawings, designs, and project scopes.
• Prepare quantity take-offs and calculate material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, safety, and specialty-item costs.
• Estimate collection systems, substations, underground cable systems, utility interconnections, SCADA, grounding, and protection and control systems.
• Identify technical risks, assess constructability, recommend cost-effective design options, and develop value engineering solutions.
• Coordinate with Engineers of Record, utilities, equipment suppliers, Engineering, Integrated Supply Chain, Construction, and Project Management; mentor estimating staff.

Requirements

• Four-year degree in construction or engineering, or equivalent technical training and related experience.
• Five to seven years of experience as an estimator or equivalent experience in mathematics, construction, or engineering.
• Experience or emphasis in renewable construction, particularly solar, wind, or battery energy storage projects.
• Knowledge of electrical collection systems, substations, utility interconnections, underground cables, SCADA, protection and control, grounding, and power delivery infrastructure.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel.

Nice to have

• Experience with utility-scale renewable energy or power infrastructure projects.
• Experience with value engineering, constructability reviews, technical risk assessments, and proposal development.
• Experience collaborating with owners, utilities, Engineers of Record, and cross-functional construction teams.
