Staff Software Engineer (Data Platform)

Location: Remote in Canada.

Salary: $135,800–$169,700 CAD per year.

What you will do

• Extend the data platform to surface insights in the product and support machine learning and LLM-driven capabilities.
• Architect and enhance ingestion, curation, retention, governance, and data access services.
• Build data infrastructure with Python, Snowflake, Snowpark, Google Cloud Platform, Airflow, Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
• Lead technical design, mentor engineers, and raise standards for coding, testing, deployment, and communication.
• Own development, testing, operations, support, reliability, and on-call responsibilities for production systems.
• Partner with Product, Sales, Operations, Finance, and other teams to deliver self-service data solutions.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience building production data systems and large-volume data pipelines.
• Deep knowledge of distributed data processing, data modeling, OLAP and OLTP systems, governance, observability, and data quality.
• Strong hands-on Python experience and experience with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Firebolt, or Redshift.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform or a comparable cloud environment, containers, Kubernetes, Terraform, Airflow, and CI/CD.
• Technical leadership experience, including architecture ownership, mentoring, and translating ambiguous requirements into designs.
• Experience supporting machine learning and LLM infrastructure, such as feature stores, embedding pipelines, or model-ready data services.

Nice to have

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform, Snowpark for Python, and configuration-driven data workflows.
• Hands-on use of AI tools to accelerate engineering work.
