Data Engineer (Snowflake)

Location: Remote in Canada

Salary: $90,000–$100,000 CAD per year

What you will do

• Build and maintain business context, glossaries, metric definitions, rules, and hierarchies that make automotive data AI-ready.
• Design, validate, and publish governed Snowflake semantic views and a versioned metric registry.
• Develop canonical master datasets for vehicles, VINs, dealers, incentives, and other domains with multiple sources of truth.
• Prepare documents and metadata for retrieval with Snowflake Cortex Search and connect semantic services to Cortex Analyst and Cortex Agents.
• Design, troubleshoot, monitor, and improve production data pipelines on Snowflake, Google Cloud, and BigQuery.
• Lead data engineering projects, collaborate across business and technology teams, and mentor junior data engineers.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional experience with a bachelor's degree, or 3 years with a graduate degree, in data engineering and quantitative analytics.
• Strong hands-on proficiency in Python and SQL, with production experience designing and operating robust ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Experience with data quality, monitoring, alerting, automated testing, dimensional modeling, and governed metrics or semantic layers.
• Hands-on Snowflake experience is strongly preferred; experience with Snowpark, Dynamic Tables, role-based access control, BigQuery, AWS, or Palantir is valued.
• Working knowledge of RAG, embeddings, vector search, context and prompt design, tool calling, AI agents, and MCP.
• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada; employment sponsorship is not provided.

Nice to have

• Experience with semantic views or Snowflake Cortex, LLM applications, Git, code review, CI/CD, and modular software engineering.
• Knowledge of ontologies, knowledge graphs, data catalogs, metadata management, lineage, and PII handling.
• Experience using AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot in daily development.
