TL;DR
HR Manager (Employee Relations/Labor Relations): Leading people and culture operations for the San Diego and Los Angeles offices with an accent on employee relations, workplace investigations, labor relations, and HR compliance. Focus on advising leadership, implementing collective bargaining agreements, managing complex employee matters, and strengthening talent and employee experience programs.

Location: Based in San Diego, California, with hybrid work requiring a minimum of three days in the office and regular travel between the San Diego and Los Angeles offices. Occasional travel, evening, or weekend work may be required.

Salary: $81,252.55–$94,430.64 per year

What you will do

  • Advise managers and leadership on HR policies, performance management, employee relations, and organizational decisions.
  • Lead intake, investigations, and resolution support for sensitive employee relations matters.
  • Implement collective bargaining agreements and maintain constructive relationships with union representatives.
  • Manage HR lifecycle administration, including onboarding, Workday transactions, personnel records, and employee exits.
  • Lead employee engagement, inclusion, talent development, and employee experience initiatives.
  • Contribute to the nationwide People & Culture community and manage background checks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
  • At least five years of progressively responsible HR experience.
  • Experience leading workplace investigations and resolving employee relations matters.
  • Advanced knowledge of at least one HR discipline, such as employee relations, benefits, performance management, learning and development, organizational development, or labor relations.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state employment laws, excellent communication skills, and high confidentiality standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; experience with Workday or applicant tracking systems is beneficial.

Nice to have

  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment or a large, matrixed organization.
  • Master’s degree in human resources management.
  • Facilitation, change management, or project management experience.
  • Experience working successfully in a multicultural environment.
