Senior Software Engineer - Network & SDN (TeraWave)

Location: Greater Seattle Area, United States. Employment requires U.S. citizenship or nationality, U.S. permanent residency, or lawful admission as a refugee or asylee.

Base pay: $248,830.00–$348,361.65 for California and Washington applicants; other site ranges may differ.

hirify.global develops reusable space vehicles and systems and is building TeraWave, a multi-orbit satellite communications network for enterprise-grade connectivity worldwide.

What you will do

• Implement components of a hybrid space-ground transport network for a constellation of optically interconnected LEO and MEO satellites.
• Develop routing, topology management, fast-reroute, traffic engineering, and policy enforcement mechanisms for time-varying satellite networks.
• Implement SDN frameworks, programmable transport solutions, and centralized and distributed control planes.
• Build telemetry, observability, flow-tracing, self-healing, congestion-management, and fault-isolation capabilities.
• Develop packet-forwarding solutions optimized for latency, throughput, and power constraints.
• Collaborate with RF, Silicon, principal engineering, and technical leadership teams while mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field and 8+ years of experience in network engineering, distributed systems, or telecommunications.
• Strong knowledge of BGP, IS-IS, OSPF, and Segment Routing, including SRv6 or SR-MPLS.
• Experience with SDN controllers and programmable data planes such as P4, OpenFlow, or proprietary frameworks.
• Understanding of packet processing, ASIC/FPGA forwarding logic, high-speed switching, and wireless, cloud, or service-provider networks.
• Experience developing network solutions in mission-critical environments, with strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Must meet U.S. export-control eligibility requirements: U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with satellite or terrestrial/satellite hybrid communications networks.
• Knowledge of telemetry pipelines, network analytics, graph theory, network optimization, modeling, and simulation tools.
• Networking project or open-source contributions and familiarity with communications-system regulations.
