Location: In-person at the headquarters in Torrance, California. The role requires access to ITAR-controlled information and items; candidates must be a U.S. person or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export-control license.
Salary: $123,000β$150,000 base salary per year, plus equity.

What you will do
- Design and implement software for building, testing, and operating satellites and customer payloads.
- Extend the mission software platform used to operate K2βs Gravitas satellite and support multiple constellations.
- Collaborate with Mission Operations, Flight Software, and external customers to define mission architecture and payload software.
- Facilitate software design reviews, architecture discussions, and code reviews.
- Develop across the Rust backend and TypeScript/Vue frontend stack.
- Support ground tests and on-orbit spacecraft operations through an on-call rotation, while mentoring other engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, or another STEM discipline, or 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Experience with software engineering for satellite command and control, constellation operations, mission automation, radio communications, astrodynamics, or related systems.
- Experience with statically typed backend programming languages such as Rust, Go, C++, Java, C#, or TypeScript.
- Experience with modern frontend development using JavaScript or TypeScript and frameworks such as Vue, React, or Svelte.
- Must be a U.S. person under ITAR or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export-control license.
Nice to have
- Experience with space missions or satellite ground segments.
- Experience with CI/CD, deployment, monitoring, HTTP or gRPC APIs, SQL databases, and event-driven architectures.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, WebSockets, Server-Sent Events, networking protocols, or data streaming technologies.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity practices and standards such as SOC 2 or FedRAMP.
