TL;DR
Senior Ground Software Engineer (Satellite) (Rust/TypeScript/Vue): Building software for satellite and payload build, test, and operations with an accent on mission software, spacecraft command and control, and constellation operations. Focus on designing scalable mission automation, collaborating across mission operations and flight software teams, and supporting reliable ground test and on-orbit operations.
Location: Seattle, WA, United States. The role involves access to ITAR-controlled information and requires U.S. person status or eligibility for a federally issued export control license.
Salary: $150,000–$200,000 annually, plus equity.

What you will do
- Design and implement software used to build, test, and operate satellites and customer payloads.
- Develop new capabilities and automation for the mission software platform supporting multiple constellations.
- Collaborate with Mission Operations and Flight Software teams on mission architecture and software solutions.
- Lead software design reviews, architecture discussions, and code reviews.
- Work across Rust backend and TypeScript/Vue frontend systems.
- Support internal and external customers during ground testing and on-orbit spacecraft operations, and mentor other engineers.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience building software solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, STEM, or 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- U.S. person status or eligibility for a federally issued export control license is required.
- Ability to work with backend and frontend software systems, including Rust, TypeScript, and Vue.
- Ability to collaborate with mission operators, engineers, and external customers.
Nice to have
- Experience with space missions or satellite ground segments.
- Experience with statically typed backend languages, frontend development, APIs, SQL databases, and event-driven architectures.
- Experience with reliable scalable systems, Docker, Kubernetes, WebSockets, SSE, networking protocols, and data streaming technologies.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity practices and standards such as SOC 2 and FedRAMP.
