Staff Software Engineer (AI)

Location: USA-CA - Promontory D; must have legal authorization to work in the US

Annual base salary: USD 143,800–230,000, plus discretionary bonus and equity opportunities.

What you will do

• Design, implement, test, debug, and review operations and management features for private-cloud environments.
• Build scalable capabilities for proactive monitoring, diagnostics, observability, and customer self-diagnostics.
• Research and evaluate technologies for agentic applications, autonomous multi-agent architectures, and AI-driven development.
• Participate in requirements analysis, architecture, technical design, coding, documentation, and code reviews.
• Collaborate with distributed cross-functional teams and guide engineers on technology, design, and coding practices.
• Prototype ideas and convert them into reliable, enterprise-grade product capabilities.

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science or a related field with 12+ years of experience, or MS with 10+ years of related experience.
• Hands-on experience with AI-Driven Development Life Cycle, AI coding agents such as Claude or Cursor, and spec-driven development.
• Experience designing and deploying enterprise-grade agentic applications using foundational LLM and SLM models and multi-agent architectures.
• Expertise in Context Engineering, RAG, MCP, model routing, agent execution loops, tool integration, safety guardrails, authorization, memory management, and execution environments.
• Strong proficiency in Java, Spring, and Hibernate, with experience in scalable, high-availability software products.
• Experience with message queueing, event streaming, caching, RDBMS and NoSQL databases, preferably OpenSearch, PostgreSQL, and ClickHouse; familiarity with Angular or React is expected.
