Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, or Detroit, Michigan. Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the United States; visa sponsorship is available.

Salary: $218,240–$327,360 USD base salary for the California position, plus eligibility for annual bonuses, equity compensation, and benefits.

What you will do

  • Lead, grow, hire, and develop an engineering team responsible for platform security, storage, memory management, and software updates.
  • Set technical direction for packaging, validating, deploying, rolling back, and safely applying vehicle software updates.
  • Guide low-level storage driver development and own the platform memory map across nonvolatile storage units.
  • Oversee trusted firmware, secure boot, and cryptographic key provisioning, rotation, and revocation.
  • Direct manufacturing image creation and device-provisioning tooling.
  • Collaborate with platform, safety, security, manufacturing, silicon, and tooling partners to resolve integration issues and meet automotive requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field with 7+ years of relevant experience; equivalent master’s or PhD pathways are accepted.
  • At least 2 years of engineering management or technical leadership experience, including hiring and performance management.
  • Hands-on architectural, coding, and management skills, including strong C++ experience in embedded systems.
  • Deep knowledge of nonvolatile memory, low-level storage drivers, memory layout, linker scripts, and bootloaders.
  • Experience with software update systems, trusted firmware, secure boot, and cryptographic key management in embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with automotive or other safety-critical development practices, such as ISO 26262.

Nice to have

  • Manufacturing provisioning tooling, image creation, and memory-map allocation across multiple storage units.
  • Experience with hardware security modules, secure elements, A/B updates, or dual-bank rollback schemes.
  • Autonomous driving or ADAS experience.
  • Bazel build system experience.
