Software Engineering Manager (AV Platform)

TL;DR

Software Engineering Manager (AV Platform): Leading a team of embedded software engineers to develop the foundation of autonomous vehicles with an accent on MCU software and system health. Focus on driving the delivery of safe, reliable production software and establishing high-quality engineering processes.

Location: Hybrid: Must be based in or be able to relocate to Milford, Michigan (reporting to office at least 3 times a week)

What you will do

• Lead, grow, and develop a team of embedded software engineers focused on AV MCU software.
• Set technical direction, define execution priorities, and align the team on key engineering outcomes.
• Partner with hardware, systems, middleware, test, and manufacturing teams to deliver production software.
• Establish and continuously improve engineering processes, including design reviews and code quality practices.
• Mentor engineers and technical leads, building succession plans and a high-performance culture.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to build, prioritize, and execute the engineering roadmap.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
• 8+ years of experience in embedded, systems, or platform software
• 2+ years of engineering management or technical team leadership experience
• Strong experience with embedded C and C++.
• Experience managing initiatives in mission-critical, fast-paced engineering organizations.
• Proven ability to hire and onboard new team members.

Nice to have

• Experience with ISO-26262, DO-178, or IEC-62304 safety-critical systems.
• Experience with SoCs, Embedded Linux, and complex Embedded Systems.
• Exposure to Linux kernel, IPC, and GPU drivers.
• Experience with AUTOSAR and Automotive Embedded Systems.
