Salary: $140,400–$372,300 USD per year, plus potential bonus, stock, and other rewards.

What you will do

• Lead the Copilot Identity & Safety engineering team and shape its technical roadmap.
• Guide the design of scalable, secure, observable systems covering content safety, code security, identity protection, malicious-use prevention, and agentic workflows.
• Coordinate dependencies and resolve conflicts across product, applied science, responsible AI, digital safety, and engineering organizations.
• Grow engineers through coaching, performance management, and development planning.
• Drive automation, tooling, standardization, experimentation, and telemetry-based decision-making.
• Own incident response and reliability practices, ensuring services meet SLOs and postmortems produce systemic improvements.

Requirements

• At least 9 years of software engineering or related technical experience, or equivalent experience; applicable degree-based alternatives are accepted.
• Proven experience maintaining and delivering production software in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Go, Ruby, Rust, or Python.
• At least 3 years of people management experience.
• Experience with large-scale system architecture, distributed systems, microservices, cloud environments, or cloud-native concepts.
• Experience collaborating with product management, design, and engineering teams on cross-functional projects.
• Must be able to work remotely from within the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with scripting languages, React, TypeScript, MySQL, Cosmos DB, Elasticsearch, or telemetry tools such as Datadog, Sentry, and Azure Data Explorer.
• Experience with Cloud Native Computing Foundation concepts.
