Location: Full-time, onsite role at Arc’s Los Angeles headquarters in Torrance, California; United States Person status under ITAR is required.
Salary: $215,000 annually, plus equity grants and semi-annual performance bonuses.

What you will do
- Lead, mentor, hire, and develop a high-performing vehicle controls engineering team.
- Build processes that improve engineering efficiency, quality, velocity, accountability, and team culture.
- Partner with electrical, firmware, and mechanical teams on cross-domain integration and system-level troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with service and manufacturing teams to triage controls faults, define service actions, and improve fleet uptime.
- Contribute to roadmaps for future vehicle programs, including technical risk assessment and staffing plans.
- Define long-term technical strategy to expand Arc’s vehicle controls capabilities.
Requirements
- United States Person status under ITAR is required.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in embedded systems, controls, or vehicle electrical integration.
- 2+ years of experience leading and managing engineering teams, including mentoring, performance management, and hiring.
- Experience shipping complex hardware-integrated, real-time systems into production.
- Strong judgment when making system-level tradeoffs under real-world constraints.
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and cross-functional stakeholder communication skills.
Nice to have
- Experience with EV or marine electrical and controls architectures.
- Proficiency in C, C++, Rust, or similar languages for embedded or automation development.
- Experience with model-based design or control algorithm development using tools such as MATLAB or Simulink.
- Enthusiasm for boating and the water.
