Database Engineer V (Oracle/Amazon Redshift)

Location: Fully remote within the United States, supporting Eastern Time business hours from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM ET. The position is listed in Columbia, Maryland. Occasional travel for training or project meetings may be required and is estimated at less than 5% annually. Only U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents may be considered, and the role requires the ability to obtain and maintain favorable Federal suitability/Public Trust adjudication.

What you will do

• Design, develop, document, and maintain data processing systems, database structures, data models, and source-to-target transformation logic.
• Analyze complex requirements, source-system changes, data warehouse gaps, impacts, and integration opportunities.
• Build logical and physical relational and dimensional data models, DDL scripts, metadata, BI objects, and data quality rules.
• Analyze AWS Glue ETL flows and write complex SQL queries across large, multi-format datasets.
• Tune Oracle and Amazon Redshift database performance and recommend scalable improvements.
• Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders across the SDLC, including design reviews, code reviews, testing, issue resolution, and delivery planning.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or four additional years of relevant experience.
• 10+ years of professional experience in database engineering, database design, data warehousing, systems analysis, data architecture, or related technical delivery.
• At least 7 years of systems analysis experience in a data warehouse environment and at least 3 years of recent hands-on experience architecting data warehouse solutions.
• Strong experience with complex SQL, logical and physical data modeling, data warehouse architecture, source-to-target mapping, transformation logic, metadata management, and data quality.
• Experience with Oracle and/or Amazon Redshift, AWS Glue ETL flows, ERwin or comparable modeling tools, and MicroStrategy or related BI environments.
• U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency is required for consideration; Federal suitability/Public Trust adjudication must be obtainable and maintainable.

Nice to have

• Experience with ERwin Mapping Manager, MicroStrategy 2019+, Oracle 10g+, Amazon Redshift, and advanced SQL procedures and functions.
• Experience supporting CMS, HHS, Federal healthcare, contact center analytics, beneficiary services, or similar mission-driven programs.
• Familiarity with Federal information security, privacy, FISMA, FedRAMP, Public Trust environments, metadata repositories, and BI reporting enablement.
