TL;DR
Vacuum Systems Engineer (Semiconductor): Designing and qualifying vacuum systems, gas-flow architectures, and contamination-control processes for EUV lithography scanners and test rigs with an accent on vacuum performance, particle cleanliness, and system integration. Focus on modeling pressure and flow behavior, solving contamination and reliability challenges, and developing evidence-based procedures for next-generation semiconductor manufacturing equipment.

Location: On-site in Wilton, Connecticut, United States; a flexible arrangement of up to two remote days per week may be available for eligible work. Travel of up to 10% within the US and internationally may be required. The role requires legal authorization to access technology controlled under United States export regulations.

Company

hirify.global develops advanced semiconductor lithography systems used by leading chip manufacturers, including EUV and High-NA platforms.

What you will do

  • Translate system designs into vacuum and gas-flow architectures for scanners and test rigs.
  • Specify vacuum components, materials, standards, pump-down procedures, vent procedures, and cleanliness processes.
  • Model pressure drops, flow budgets, gas purity, humidification, contamination transport, and subsystem performance.
  • Define and execute qualification tests and design-of-experiments for degassing chambers and components.
  • Investigate particle contamination and vacuum-performance issues, troubleshoot escalations, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Lead cross-functional technical alignment and the Wilton engineering guild for machine-conditioning architecture and vacuum systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field; a master's degree or PhD is preferred.
  • For JG08: 5+ years of thorough experience; for JG09: 9+ years of substantial experience in a relevant technical field.
  • Strong theoretical and practical experience with vacuum systems, gas-flow phenomena, and applications.
  • Experience with vacuum architecture, flow modeling, contamination control, materials compatibility, testing, and technical analysis.
  • Strong technical writing, documentation, communication, collaboration, and technical leadership skills.
  • Must be able to work on-site in Wilton and be legally authorized to access United States-controlled technology.

Nice to have

  • Semiconductor industry experience or familiarity with hirify.global Twinscan, vacuum systems ADT, or hirify.global vacuum-flow modeling.
  • Experience with particle transport, rarefied gas flow, plasma physics, electrostatics, surface science, RGA, or vacuum measurement techniques.
  • Experience with modeling or simulation tools for gas flow, vacuum performance, contamination transport, or thermal-fluid behavior.

Culture & Benefits

  • Work on technology enabling leading semiconductor manufacturers and future EUV and High-NA platforms.
  • Collaborate with experts across vacuum technology, contamination control, lithography, research, engineering, and customer support.
  • Develop through technical leadership, mentoring, and cross-site collaboration.
  • Regular full-time employment with an on-site work environment and possible flexibility of up to two remote days per week.
  • Work may involve exposure to strong magnetic fields, high voltage, and electrical currents.
