Satellite Operator (Aerospace)

Location: Onsite in San Jose, California, five days per week. Participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation is required, approximately one week per month. Access to export-controlled information requires meeting applicable U.S. Government export authorization conditions.

Salary: $31–$40 per hour, plus equity and comprehensive benefits.

What you will do

• Execute satellite operation procedures and monitor the health, safety, and performance of the on-orbit fleet.
• Analyze telemetry, health reports, and system alerts to identify issues and implement preventive measures.
• Troubleshoot anomalies and malfunctions, applying corrective actions to restore satellite functionality.
• Execute orbit corrections, station-keeping, and other satellite maneuvers.
• Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams on special operations, calibrations, service continuity, and satellite commissioning.

Requirements

• Associate degree or equivalent experience.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and critical decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and perform effectively under pressure.
• Availability for onsite work in San Jose five days per week.
• Ability to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation, approximately one week per month.
• Eligibility to access export-controlled information under applicable U.S. Government regulations.

Nice to have

• Experience operating spacecraft, ground stations, or complex communication systems.
• Understanding of satellite power, propulsion, communications, and payload subsystems.
• Familiarity with satellite operations standards and best practices.
• Experience with Python, Julia, or another high-level scripting language.
