TL;DR
Electrical Engineer (Aerospace): Designing and taking analog, power, thermal, and mixed-signal electrical subsystems from requirements through manufacturing for Planet’s satellite constellation with an accent on PCB design, harnesses, and design validation. Focus on optimizing hardware for medium-scale mass production, validating power and signal integrity, and integrating electrical subsystems into flight-ready satellites.

Location: San Francisco, CA; hybrid work from the San Francisco office three days per week

Salary: $144,500–$180,600 USD per year base salary

hirify.global designs, builds, and operates a large constellation of imaging satellites and delivers satellite data through a cloud-based platform for commercial, environmental, and humanitarian applications.

What you will do

  • Design analog, power, thermal, and mixed-signal electrical subsystems from requirements through detailed design.
  • Create schematics, run power and signal integrity simulations, and guide PCB layout reviews.
  • Design electrical harnesses, select components, define signals and lengths, and generate fabrication drawings.
  • Oversee design validation and qualification campaigns, including power and signal integrity, EMI/EMC, and interoperability testing.
  • Develop analog and mixed-signal interfaces for thermal systems, sensors, and actuators.
  • Support manufacturing and systems teams with electrical subsystem integration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience taking electrical designs from schematics to manufacturing.
  • Experience with power, analog, and mixed-signal PCB design.
  • Experience with Altium and laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters.
  • Excellent solder rework skills and experience with embedded systems and peripheral interfaces including I2C, SPI, USB, CAN, or Ethernet.
  • Ability to make decisions regarding design and implementation.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of high-speed design and DC-DC converters.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python.
