Ground Station Engineer (Satellite Communications)

Location: Berlin, Germany; hybrid work with 3 days per week in the Berlin office and travel up to 75% of the time

Salary: €60,900–€76,100 gross annual salary in Germany, with potential eligibility for discretionary bonuses, commission, and equity.

What you will do

• Coordinate the deployment of hardware and essential materials to emerging ground station locations with Logistics and Service Delivery Managers.
• Direct on-site implementation and construction activities for complex ground station systems.
• Oversee the installation lifecycle for antennas, networking, compute resources, cloud infrastructure, and industrial controllers.
• Track deployed infrastructure assets and coordinate accounting with Finance teams.
• Provide detailed progress updates on technical installations and support operational excellence across the ground station network.
• Work with Spacecraft Operators and Mission Control engineers to support autonomous satellite communication and data transfer.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience installing or maintaining antenna systems.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in RF Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Familiarity with RF test equipment, including spectrum and network analyzers.
• Experience with organizational management, high-volume task prioritization, and independent decision-making.
• Ability to climb and lift, push, or pull equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to operate vehicles in foreign countries.

Nice to have

• Advanced knowledge of RF communications and satellite communication protocols.
• Experience with RF electronics, communication systems, RF front-end and back-end equipment, and link budgets.
• Experience calibrating, diagnosing, and monitoring antenna systems.
• Experience with telemetry, tracking, and control systems, radar, or communications systems.
• Project management, logistics, or Linux/UNIX server experience.
