Heavy Haul Logistics Lead

TL;DR

Heavy Haul Logistics Lead (Industrial Equipment): Managing the end-to-end transportation of chillers, cooling distribution units, coolant control units, and related heavy equipment from manufacturing partners to customer sites with an accent on carrier sourcing, rigging verification, permits, insurance, and delivery coordination. Focus on designing reliable shipment processes, solving oversize and overweight transportation challenges, and coordinating complex domestic and international deliveries across multiple stakeholders.

Location: Remote within the United States; up to 30% domestic and international travel required. Core hours must overlap with the Operations team, with flexibility for European and Asian coordination and occasional after-hours or weekend shipment support.

What you will do

• Source, qualify, negotiate with, and manage heavy haul carriers for domestic and international shipments.
• Build delivery schedules connecting manufacturing completion dates, carrier capacity, transit requirements, and customer site readiness.
• Monitor shipments, communicate status and risks, and coordinate handoffs to Project Management upon customer receipt.
• Verify cranes, forklifts, staging areas, trailers, load securement, protective materials, and other rigging and handling requirements.
• Manage insurance verification, supplemental coverage, oversize and overweight permits, shipping documentation, and compliance records.
• Track logistics performance, costs, claims, and carrier reliability while improving standard operating procedures and scalable processes.

Requirements

• Five to ten years of experience in heavy haul logistics, freight brokerage, transportation coordination, or equivalent industrial freight operations.
• Experience sourcing and managing heavy haul carriers, negotiating rates, evaluating capabilities, and monitoring performance.
• Practical knowledge of oversize and overweight transportation, route planning, permits, escorts, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience coordinating rigging arrangements, crane operations, load securement, and specialized handling equipment.
• Working knowledge of freight rates, fuel surcharges, accessorial charges, insurance coverage, TMS platforms, tracking tools, and international shipping documentation.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint, with excellent organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Transportation or supply chain certification such as CTL or CPIM.
• Experience with cross-border shipments involving European Union and Asian manufacturing partners.
• Experience moving HVAC, data center, industrial cooling, or similar large-scale equipment.
• Experience working with contract manufacturers or supporting logistics operations during rapid growth.
• Spanish or another relevant second language.
