Regional Planner (AI Logistics)

Location: Chicago, United States; hybrid/onsite position at ELI regional hubs.

What you will do

• Use the internal VRP platform and AI agents to match shipments, identify profitable loads, and optimize capacity across multiple ELI hubs.
• Forecast regional volume spikes and seasonal demand, identify network imbalances, and coordinate with sales to secure backhaul freight.
• Assign loads using real-time constraints such as Hours of Service, driver proximity, and home-time requirements while reducing empty miles.
• Re-plan operations during equipment breakdowns, weather events, port strikes, and other disruptions.
• Source, vet, negotiate with, and monitor third-party carriers, including spot-market and contract rates.
• Maintain accurate data in the Qargo TMS and monitor Operating Ratio, Revenue per Mile, Tender Acceptance Rates, carrier safety, and on-time performance.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in regional planning, freight brokerage, or carrier operations optimization.
• Experience with modern transportation management systems; Qargo experience is preferred within the role's technology requirements.
• Comfort using AI tools, algorithmic routing platforms, and large shipment datasets.
• Strong understanding of logistics operations, Hours of Service regulations, and freight pricing.
• Ability to analyze data, identify operational trends, and act on insights.
• Strong negotiation skills for securing competitive rates in a volatile freight market.
• Self-starter mindset with the ability to manage a region as a business and communicate with both drivers and data-focused stakeholders.
