TL;DR
Senior Process Engineer (Electronics Manufacturing): Supporting the development, introduction, transfer, and production of aerospace electronics products with an accent on circuit card assembly, process quality, producibility, and manufacturing equipment. Focus on resolving complex production problems, improving yield and cost performance, implementing corrective actions, and coordinating technical work across suppliers and internal teams.

Location: Hybrid work in Buffalo, NY, with the commercial facility located in East Aurora, NY.

Salary: $100,000–$140,000 annually.

What you will do

  • Support new product development, NPI, product transfers, production delivery, and the full product life cycle.
  • Provide process engineering support for Commercial Aircraft programs across design centers, production centers, and contract manufacturers.
  • Evaluate and implement manufacturing equipment and processes while maintaining design integrity, producibility, and product quality.
  • Analyze and resolve production problems, including MRB activities, root-cause investigations, corrective actions, and potential customer escapes.
  • Track first-pass yield, product cost, schedule, and quality metrics, and lead improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate technical communications, resources, training, and presentations with program management, sales, purchasing, customers, suppliers, and internal departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a comparable technology field, plus 5 years of relevant technical experience.
  • Hands-on experience with electromechanical hardware, tools, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with PCB and circuit card assembly, including plated-through-hole, multilayer and flexible boards, cable assemblies, rework, and repair.
  • Knowledge of root-cause and corrective-action methods, LEAN, project planning, APQP, facility and product-line layouts, production transfers, and data acquisition and analysis.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and implement part-print requirements in production processes, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to access US export-controlled information and travel domestically and internationally for approximately 10–15% of working time.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of electronics workmanship standards such as IPC and J-STD-001.
  • Experience in electronics manufacturing or a high-paced production environment.
  • Ability to become a subject matter expert in products, processes, industry standards, and equipment.
