Senior Specialist, Climate Health & WASH

Location: New York, NY, USA HQ

Salary: $104,000–$120,000 annually for US-based candidates; GBP 58,476–69,440 annually for UK-based candidates.

What you will do

• Lead strategic projects across climate-resilient WASH, water security, anticipatory action, and the water-energy nexus.
• Drive the CR-WASH and water-related disease components of global health priorities.
• Provide remote and in-country technical support, coaching, implementation tools, and capacity strengthening to regional and country teams.
• Develop technical indicators, MEAL packages, guidance, standards, and communities of practice.
• Lead research, evidence synthesis, learning, and technical quality improvement for WASH and infectious disease prevention.
• Represent IRC with policymakers, UN agencies, humanitarian partners, donors, and research networks while leading strategic business development.

Requirements

• 6–8 years of progressive experience designing and leading Climate Resilient WASH programs in fragile and conflict-affected settings or across the humanitarian-development nexus.
• Master’s degree in public health engineering, environmental management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Expertise in WASH, water security, environmental management, climate resilience, and systems strengthening.
• Experience using climate forecasts, epidemiological data, geospatial data, and research evidence for program decisions.
• Strong technical leadership, coaching, mentoring, communication, analytical, and business development skills.
• Proficiency in English and French required; ability to travel globally up to 30% of the time.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Spanish or Arabic.
• Experience with cost-effectiveness analysis, life-cycle costing, or research partnerships.
• Experience with WASH in healthcare facilities, cholera response, or forecast-based action.
