Pre-Approval Specialist (Mortgage)

Location: Remote within the United States

A large distributed retail mortgage lender serving borrowers across all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico.

What you will do

• Act as a liaison between internal teams, external clients, and borrowers throughout the mortgage loan process.
• Explain loan programs, costs, disclosures, and applicable documents to borrowers.
• Review and audit income, assets, credit documentation, pay stubs, W-2s, bank statements, and other supporting records.
• Manage a pipeline of conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, 203k, jumbo, and reverse mortgage loans.
• Pre-underwrite files, identify missing documentation, and structure loans around borrower financial circumstances.
• Prepare disclosure inputs and set up loans for approval and processing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3–5 years of residential mortgage processing experience.
• Knowledge of RESPA guidelines and mortgage and consumer regulations.
• Knowledge of DU, LP, Microsoft Outlook, and Windows.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, communication, prioritization, and time-management skills.
• A license is required to communicate loan programs and costs to borrowers.

Nice to have

• Experience with Encompass LOS.
• Prior underwriting or mortgage processing experience.
