Personal Loan Underwriter (Fintech)

Location: Tempe, Arizona; hybrid work opportunities within the United States. Flexible schedule with one weekend day included, working Sunday through Thursday.

What you will do

• Underwrite a high volume of unsecured consumer loan applications through manual risk assessment.
• Review applications and supporting documentation to approve, deny, or request additional information.
• Support the development and refinement of underwriting guidelines.
• Identify opportunities to improve underwriting and verification processes.
• Manage multiple priorities independently while meeting department goals and service expectations.

Requirements

• 1–3 years of underwriting experience; unsecured lending experience is preferred.
• Experience analyzing credit reports, paystubs, tax returns, bank statements, and other financial instruments.
• Strong English communication skills in oral, written, and interpersonal communication.
• Proficiency with computers, Microsoft products, and Windows-based applications.
• Customer-focused, detail-oriented, adaptable, and able to work independently.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
