TL;DR
Senior Controls Engineer - Cardiac Ablation Solutions (Electrical Controls/MedTech): Designing, integrating, and qualifying complex electrical systems, control panels, PCB-based systems, and production test equipment for cardiac ablation medical devices with an accent on equipment reliability, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional manufacturing engineering. Focus on solving complex equipment and field-return failures, integrating hardware, firmware, and software, and leading risk, CAPA, verification, and validation activities.
Location: Onsite in Galway, County Galway, Ireland
Salary: €64,640–€96,960 per year, plus eligibility for the Incentive Plan.

What you will do
- Maintain and improve manufacturing equipment performance, reliability, yield, process capability, and cost efficiency.
- Lead structured problem-solving, root cause investigations, corrective and preventive actions, and issue escalations.
- Design, develop, test, integrate, and qualify electrical systems, circuits, control panels, PCB layouts, and production test systems.
- Integrate hardware, firmware, and software components while supporting verification, validation, safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Plan technical projects, define deliverables and timelines, manage risks, and maintain specifications, schematics, BOMs, drawings, and change controls.
- Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with manufacturing, mechanical engineering, software, quality, and external vendors.
Requirements
- Minimum NFQ Level 8 degree in engineering, science, or a related discipline, with at least 4 years of electrical design experience; or an advanced degree with at least 2 years of experience.
- Experience with analog, digital, and high-voltage systems, including AB, Cognex, and Keyence technologies.
- Understanding of CE and EMC design and testing principles and experience in regulated industries.
- Hands-on experience building control boxes and panels, prototyping, testing, and debugging electromechanical assemblies.
- Experience developing hardware test systems, engineering documentation, PCB analysis or simulation, and CAD tools.
- Strong communication, collaboration, troubleshooting, and structured problem-solving skills.
Nice to have
- Experience with Siemens, Beckhoff, Trio Motion Perfect, Kuka, Epson, UR Robots, Visual Studio, or PackML.
- Experience with Minitab, MATLAB, SPICE, Altium, or Cadence.
- Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing and Test, Six Sigma, Lean, or related methodologies.
- Experience with medical devices or other highly regulated products.
