Quality Engineer (Aluminum Casting)

Location: Onsite in Defiance, OH. GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.

What you will do

• Support Built-In Quality (BIQ) initiatives to prevent defects and improve aluminum casting manufacturing processes.
• Manage supplier quality activities, including communication, development, and performance monitoring.
• Interpret engineering drawings using GD&T principles to resolve quality concerns and ensure conformity.
• Utilize GEPICS and GSIP for documentation, tracking, and supplier collaboration.
• Conduct root cause analysis using structured problem-solving methods like 8D, 5 Whys, or Fishbone.
• Develop, implement, and monitor Process Control Plans (PCPs) and conduct process audits.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Quality, Material Sciences, or Manufacturing Engineering (graduating May 2026 – December 2026).
• Must be based in or able to report to Defiance, OH on a full-time basis.
• Must be available to work all 3 shifts.
• No immigration sponsorship provided (H1-B, OPT, STEM OPT, CPT, TN, J-1, etc.).
• Willingness to work in a plant environment.

Nice to have

• Entry-level experience in manufacturing, quality, or aluminum casting through internships or co-ops.
• Familiarity with BIQ principles and GD&T.
• Exposure to GEPICS, GSIP, or similar quality management systems.
• Experience with structured problem-solving tools (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone).
