What you will do

• Lead triage of high-severity hardware issues within the deployed fleet, spanning compute, controls, networking, and sensor systems.
• Drive end-to-end root-cause investigations across subsystem boundaries, from initial reports to confirmed causes.
• Develop novel analysis methods and lab reproduction setups to recreate field issues and validate fixes.
• Propose, scope, and drive long-term hardware design changes in partnership with design teams.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and communicate findings to cross-functional stakeholders.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience as a hardware, test, or systems validation engineer with deep hands-on expertise.
• Expertise in at least three domains: compute/processing hardware, vehicle controls/power (CAN bus), networking (Automotive Ethernet), or sensor hardware (lidar, radar, camera).
• Extensive experience with advanced diagnostic tools such as oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, and power analyzers.
• Proven track record of independently leading systematic triage of ambiguous field issues and driving them to root cause.
• Ability to propose and drive hardware design changes from root-cause finding through implementation.
• Experience mentoring other engineers and communicating technical recommendations to stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Proficiency with Precision Time Protocol (PTP), network synchronization, and timing analysis.
• Strong scripting skills in Python or SQL for fleet log analysis and automated test pipelines.
• Experience owning a subsystem domain end-to-end from detection to fleet-wide validation.
• History of driving cross-functional design reviews and influencing component-level design decisions.
