Firmware Validation Engineer (Battery Management Systems)

Salary: $155,000 - $211,000 per year

Zoox is developing the first ground-up, fully autonomous vehicle fleet and the supporting ecosystem for urban mobility, combining robotics, machine learning, and design.

What you will do

• Define and develop comprehensive test plans and trace test cases to requirements.
• Implement test plans across multiple testing layers, including HiL, Dyno, and Vehicle.
• Identify and implement tooling needs to execute tests and evaluate results efficiently.
• Collaborate with system, firmware, and hardware engineers to ensure functionality meets product requirements.
• Investigate firmware issues through data analysis and issue reproduction.

Requirements

• BS degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, or Systems Engineering.
• 4+ years of experience in developing or testing embedded software.
• Proficiency in test automation using Python or other scripting languages.
• Experience with source control using Git.
• Hands-on technical experience debugging complex systems involving networked microprocessors and electromechanical devices.
• Ability to parse and analyze log data and source code to identify root causes.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of drive units, power steering, actuators, braking systems, or powertrain.
• Experience with Python testing frameworks such as Robot or pytest.
• Experience with continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD) systems.
• Proficiency with tools like JIRA, TestRail, Polarion, JAMA, Doors, or XRAY.
• Experience in systems validation, integration, or FMEA/vehicle safety concepts analysis.
