Sr. Systems Validation Engineer (Automotive)

Pay range: $91,500–$148,100 per year

What you will do

• Design, develop, and execute manual and automated test cases for embedded vehicle control software, including powertrain, braking, steering, body control, and operator interface systems.
• Translate software and system requirements into traceable test scenarios, procedures, plans, and results.
• Create and maintain test scripts and data for Software-in-the-Loop and Hardware-in-the-Loop environments.
• Validate functionality, performance, safety-critical behavior, and communication across CAN, LIN, and Ethernet networks.
• Develop test automation frameworks integrated with CI/CD, support automated build verification, and maintain HIL infrastructure.
• Log and triage defects, participate in design and code reviews, and collaborate with developers and system engineers on resolution.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field and at least five years of related experience.
• At least five years of software test case development or quality assurance experience for embedded or automotive systems.
• Experience with vehicle software testing and diagnostic protocols such as CAN, J1939, and UDS.
• Proficiency in scripting or programming with Python, CAPL, C, or MATLAB.
• Experience with test automation frameworks and Git, plus an understanding of vehicle electrical architectures, embedded systems, and system integration.
• Ability to work on complex validation problems, make significant decisions, and act as a lead worker.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience testing ICE, EV, or HEV software, including battery management, power electronics, or thermal management.
• Experience with dSPACE Synetec test case automation and HIL/SIL environments using dSPACE, ETAS, or equivalent tools.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, TestStand, Vector CANoe, CANalyzer, ETAS INCA, and Jama.
