Senior Software Quality Assurance Engineer (Embedded Controls)

Location: Hybrid in Milford, Michigan, United States; on-site attendance required at least three times per week. Travel may be required. This role is not eligible for relocation benefits; relocation costs are the candidate's responsibility.

What you will do

• Serve as a subject matter expert for a Solution Quality Assurance team, mentor new members, and improve testing processes and efficiency.
• Develop comprehensive solution-level test plans and lead test case creation to identify anomalies, missed requirements, and performance issues early.
• Build continuous test automation using tools such as Robot Framework.
• Interpret functional, safety, and compliance requirements and establish appropriate test plans and environments.
• Execute tests in software-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop, and vehicle environments, while identifying and resolving software issues.
• Collaborate with controls, diagnostics, software, product owners, developers, and other stakeholders to define acceptance criteria and share testing knowledge.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronic, Software, Electrical, or Computer Engineering.
• At least 5 years of embedded software development or testing experience.
• Proficiency in Python or a comparable scripting or programming language.
• Experience reading and debugging C/C++ source code.
• Experience with JIRA, Git, Rhapsody, Optimus, Scaled Agile Framework, and Agile development.
• Ability to report to the Milford, Michigan location at least three times per week.

Nice to have

• Master's degree or 8+ years of embedded software development or testing experience.
• Experience with Jenkins, regression testing, and test procedure creation.
• Knowledge of applied controls theory, suspension software, and software development processes.
• Software-in-the-loop, controller virtualization, hardware-in-the-loop, dSPACE ControlDesk, or CppUTest experience.
• Experience with MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow, CarSim, automotive communication protocols, and tools such as CANoe, CANape, INCA, or NeoVI.
