TL;DR
Junior Electrical Engineer (Nuclear) (Instrumentation & Control): Managing and supervising cabling and electrical design for the Hinkley Point C nuclear project with an accent on I&C integration, cable routing, loop connections, and supplier interfaces. Focus on validating complex design inputs, resolving multidisciplinary inconsistencies, and supporting safe installation in a regulated nuclear environment.

Location: Bristol, United Kingdom, with on-site work 3 days per week. BPSS clearance is required or must be obtained.

What you will do

  • Review and consolidate cabling and electrical design inputs from I&C engineers, suppliers, and system engineers.
  • Perform consistency checks, identify discrepancies, and manage related design changes.
  • Produce and maintain I/O lists and interface documentation for turnkey contracts.
  • Design and validate cable routing, sizing, and loop connections in line with nuclear and electrical safety standards.
  • Monitor supplier feedback and coordinate updates, interface issues, and design maturity.
  • Liaise with installation teams to support accurate on-site implementation.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of experience in I&C cabling and electrical design within industrial or nuclear environments.
  • Knowledge of loop diagrams, I/O lists, control systems integration, cable routing, sizing, and installation design.
  • Ability to review supplier studies, identify inconsistencies, and resolve design issues.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering and supplier teams.
  • Degree in Engineering at Bachelor’s or Master’s level, or equivalent military experience.
  • Ability to work on site in Bristol 3 days per week and meet BPSS clearance requirements.

Nice to have

  • Experience working on nuclear projects and with turnkey contracts.
  • Knowledge of CAD or cable management software such as AutoCAD or MicroStation.
  • Experience with installation planning and electrical interface verification.
