PCB Layout Designer

Location: Hybrid based in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada

Salary: CAD 85,000–100,000 per year

What you will do

• Design mid- to high-complexity multilayer PCB layouts in collaboration with electrical designers.
• Set layout constraints for impedance and spacing and route high-speed signals according to signal and power integrity best practices.
• Recommend appropriate PCB layer counts and materials for each design.
• Participate in schematic and layout design reviews.
• Create and release board documentation packages to the internal PLM system.
• Implement design-for-assembly and design-for-manufacturing changes requested by board vendors.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent field.
• Five or more years of PCB layout experience.
• Proficiency with Cadence Allegro PCB Design tools.
• Experience with high-pin-count BGAs and high-speed memory interfaces.
• Understanding of controlled-impedance stackups, signal integrity routing, analog layout techniques, PCB fabrication and assembly processes, and IPC standards.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice to have

• Ten or more years of PCB layout experience.
• IPC CID or CID+ certification.
• Experience with Mentor Graphics PADS, DxDesigner, high-voltage or high-current designs, ECAD library development, or Cadence SKILL scripting.
