Director of Engineering (Fintech)

What you will do

• Own engineering execution, delivery, technical direction, and quality across multiple products.
• Directly lead, mentor, hire, and develop senior and staff engineers without an intervening management layer.
• Align architecture, engineering standards, roadmaps, and technical vision across products.
• Guide distributed systems, REST APIs, data pipelines, databases, and core application architecture while contributing to complex technical decisions.
• Prioritize resources, timelines, and technical investments across competing product areas.
• Drive operational excellence, reliability, scalability, maintainability, testing, code reviews, and AI-assisted engineering practices.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software development experience, including strong backend expertise with Python and Django.
• 4+ years of experience managing engineers, including senior and staff engineers.
• Experience owning and delivering multiple products or product lines at scale.
• Strong understanding of API design and integration, REST, distributed systems, and relational databases.
• Experience in SaaS environments, particularly financial technology, and hands-on use of AI tools in engineering workflows.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills and the ability to work in a US-based hybrid environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, service monitoring, metrics, and log aggregation.
• Experience scaling engineering teams during hyper-growth and managing products across different maturity stages.
• Financial modeling, quantitative analysis, mortgage capital markets, hedging strategies, or financial market operations experience.
