Privacy Counsel (AI)

TL;DR

Privacy Counsel (AI): Advising Snap on privacy and AI law and compliance in EMEA with an accent on GDPR, the ePrivacy Directive, and the EU AI Act. Focus on creating compliance strategies for emerging legislation and collaborating with product and security teams to ensure privacy by-design.

Location: London. Expect team members to work in an office 4+ days per week.

What you will do

• Advise on privacy and AI laws, specifically GDPR, ePrivacy Directive, and the EU AI Act within the EMEA region.
• Collaborate with the global Policy team and regulators to ensure compliance practices are well-understood.
• Develop compliance strategies for pending and new global privacy and AI legislation.
• Partner with Product, Safety, and Law Enforcement teams on complex privacy and AI law issues.
• Conduct privacy and AI impact assessments and guide operational teams on managing compliance programs.
• Work with Security teams on cybersecurity laws, regulations, and incident response.

Requirements

• Qualified practising solicitor or equivalent with excellent academic credentials.
• 6+ years of experience in an international setting (including training years).
• Solid experience advising on global privacy and AI issues.
• Deep knowledge of global privacy laws and industry guidelines for online platforms.
• Strong legal and business judgment with the ability to communicate sophisticated issues.

Nice to have

• In-house experience counselling on privacy, cybersecurity, and AI matters.
• Experience advising social media, adtech, or AI companies.
• Technical understanding of the artificial intelligence ecosystem, including its challenges and opportunities.
• Experience building positive relationships with regulators to minimize risk.
