Regulatory Counsel (Digital Regulation)

Location: London; expected to work in an office 4+ days per week under hirify.global's "default together" approach.

What you will do

• Advise on global platform laws and regulations, focusing on the Digital Services Act and Online Safety Act.
• Build relationships with regulators and regulatory stakeholders.
• Manage Requests for Information and support regulatory investigations, including coordination with internal colleagues and outside counsel.
• Analyze and advise on legal and regulatory requirements for new products, services, and technologies.
• Develop global regulatory compliance and go-to-market strategies with legal and business colleagues, and support consultations, draft legislation, and communication strategies with Policy and Communications.
• Develop technology-first legal processes, including through AI, and conduct training for engineers and other teams.

Requirements

• UK or EU legal qualification or foreign equivalent.
• 4+ years of experience practicing law, including training years.
• Strong understanding of laws relating to digital platforms.
• Significant experience advising on online safety and digital regulation in Europe.
• Deep understanding of the European digital regulatory landscape, including platform regulation and privacy law.
• Experience advising on key European digital legislation, including the Digital Services Act and Online Safety Act.
• Detail-oriented, business-minded, highly collaborative, and able to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines.
• Excellent legal and business judgment, strategic and creative thinking, strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex legal and regulatory issues to broad stakeholder groups; experience partnering with engineers, product managers, and other cross-functional teams; and comfort navigating emerging law and technology.

Nice to have

• In-house experience counseling clients on safety, privacy, technology, and platform-related matters, including through a secondment.
• Experience supporting positive regulator relationships to achieve business goals and minimize risk.
• Experience coordinating across jurisdictions and developing company-wide compliance strategies that account for diverse jurisdictions and requirements.
• Strong understanding of artificial intelligence and associated laws, including related challenges and opportunities.
