Staff Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Sydney, Australia (must be based in Sydney)

What you will do

• Develop scalable backend systems for conversational AI and content generation.
• Productionize image and video generation models using robust orchestration pipelines and rollout strategies.
• Design and build a shared data platform for integrating data from Google, Meta, TikTok, and Shopify.
• Optimize the AI generation stack through batching, caching, streaming, and request routing.
• Build reusable backend frameworks and libraries for LLM agents and prompt management.
• Lead cross-functional technical initiatives and set the architectural direction for the Grow group.

Requirements

• Significant experience designing and operating high-throughput, low-latency distributed backend systems.
• High proficiency in Java and modern backend engineering practices.
• Deep knowledge of concurrency, performance engineering, and computer science fundamentals.
• Experience collaborating with ML engineers and researchers on production AI systems.
• Proven track record of leading technical initiatives across multiple engineering teams.
• Must be based in Sydney, Australia.
