What you will do
- Own mechanical project delivery by developing Basis of Design (BOD) and Scope of Work (SOW) documents for complex infrastructure upgrades.
- Perform technical engineering work including code assessments, HAZOP reviews, and engineering calculations for HVAC, process cooling water, exhaust, fire protection, and high-purity process piping.
- Manage retrofit and expansion of existing mechanical infrastructure, ensuring equipment sizing, selection, and specifications meet industrial standards.
- Serve as the mechanical technical lead on a design-build team, coordinating with system owners, trade contractors, and stakeholders to deliver on time and within budget.
- Oversee construction and system integration in the field by interpreting P&IDs, layout drawings, and equipment plans to troubleshoot and verify installation matches the design.
- Run project meetings and balance technical feasibility with cost and schedule constraints to drive decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- 10+ years of facilities mechanical design experience (HVAC, hydronics, process piping, exhaust, plumbing).
- 5+ years of experience managing the design project delivery process.
- Strong knowledge of ASME and ASME B31.3 codes, building/fire codes, and ASHRAE standards, including review of vendor submittals against complex specifications.
- Ability to work on-site in active, complex industrial environments, including construction-site walking, climbing, and field-based troubleshooting.
Nice to have
- PE or EIT licensure.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, or BIM360.
