Sr. Mechanical Engineer (HVAC)

Location: Atlanta, GA, US; travel to construction sites is required.

What you will do

• Lead the design and analysis of HVAC, refrigeration, steam, condensate, compressed air, nitrogen, water treatment, and hot and chilled media systems.
• Perform load calculations, determine load diversity and future capacity, select equipment, and develop ductwork, hydronic, and utility system layouts.
• Establish design criteria with clients, engineering teams, and process vendors.
• Oversee project schedules, budgets, deliverables, technical documentation, and quality assurance reviews.
• Evaluate system alternatives, life-cycle costs, energy efficiency, energy recovery, operational improvements, and expansion capacity.
• Review contractor bids, visit construction sites, and support start-up and commissioning.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• 6–8 years of engineering design and project management experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Strong knowledge of industrial steam, refrigeration, compressed air, and HVAC systems.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, decision-making, communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers and collaborate with clients, colleagues, and cross-functional teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with HVAC modeling, equipment sizing, and system layout in Revit MEP or similar BIM tools.
• Experience troubleshooting HVAC performance issues.
• Ability to communicate HVAC design concepts through diagrams, schematics, and technical presentations.
