TL;DR

Senior Composites Design Engineer (Composite Structures): Developing and qualifying advanced composite components for demanding engineering applications with an accent on structural design, material selection, and test strategy. Location: Banbury, United Kingdom; hybrid work with on-site attendance required three days per week. Candidates must be willing and eligible to obtain BPSS security clearance.

Salary: £45,000–£65,000 per year.

What you will do

• Develop composite component designs and detailed engineering models.
• Create qualification, verification, and testing strategies for composite structures.
• Support material selection, structural analysis, design substantiation, and technical justification.
• Review drawings, specifications, and technical requirements for compliance.
• Lead development and qualification testing activities.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, customers, suppliers, and programme teams.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience designing and developing composite structures and components.
• Strong knowledge of composite materials, manufacturing processes, structural performance, and testing.
• Experience with qualification, certification, or development testing activities.
• Ability to produce engineering analysis, design substantiation, and technical justification.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings, technical specifications, and compliance requirements.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience from a relevant technical military background.

Nice to have

• Experience using NX and Teamcenter.
• Knowledge of statistical analysis and engineering data interpretation.
• Understanding of polymer matrix composites, resin systems, and fibre technologies.
• Experience supporting composite production activities.
